MCPA passing score and exam format

You need 70% to pass the Platform Architect I exam. Salesforce does not publish a per-domain cut score, so the 70% is applied to your overall scored total. With 60 scored questions, that works out to roughly 42 correct answers - though Salesforce scales scores, so treat that as a planning target rather than an exact threshold.

The exam is design and scenario oriented. Most questions describe an architecture situation - an application network, an API-led layering decision, a policy-enforcement requirement - and ask for the best choice. Because the questions reward judgement over recall, the safest way to clear the bar is to practise reasoning through scenarios, not to memorize facts.

There is no separate practical or lab component. Every question is multiple choice, and your result is reported as pass or fail immediately at the test centre or online proctoring session.

The MCPA exam has 60 scored questions and a 120-minute time limit. 60 scored multiple-choice questions (plus up to 5 unscored); proctored onsite or online.

That gives you about 120 seconds per question on average. The scenario questions are wordy, so pace yourself: read the requirement, eliminate the options that violate a stated constraint, then choose among what is left. Flag and skip anything that is eating your clock and return to it.

Registration is $400 USD, paid to Salesforce/Webassessor when you schedule. First retake included with registration; attempts 3-5 offered at a 50% discount.

None required; MuleSoft Developer experience recommended. Maintained via release-aligned maintenance modules on Trailhead; no expiry while maintained.
