MuleSoft Developer 1 passing score and exam format

Salesforce sets the MuleSoft Developer 1 passing score at 70%. Because the exam has 60 scored questions, that works out to roughly 42 correct answers - though Salesforce scores by section performance and does not publish a fixed "questions correct" cutoff, so treat that as an approximation, not a guarantee.

There is no partial credit and no penalty for guessing, so answer every question even if you are unsure. The exam is scored automatically and you see a pass or fail result on screen when you submit, along with a breakdown of how you performed in each topic area.

The MCD Level 1 exam is delivered as 60 scored multiple-choice / multiple-select questions (plus up to 5 unscored); proctored onsite or online. You sit it either at a Salesforce/Webassessor test centre or online with a remote proctor watching through your webcam.

You have 120 minutes to answer the 60 scored questions, which leaves about two minutes per question. A small number of unscored pilot questions may be mixed in; they do not count toward your result but are not flagged, so answer everything as if it counts.

Questions are scenario-based rather than pure recall: you are typically shown a Mule application requirement and asked which connector, scope, DataWeave expression, or error-handling configuration satisfies it.

The Developer I exam covers the core skills of building, debugging, and deploying basic Mule 4 applications. The main topic areas are:

• Anypoint Platform and API-led connectivity - the role of system, process, and experience APIs and the components of Anypoint Platform.
• Designing and consuming APIs - RAML basics, API specifications, and Anypoint Exchange.
• Accessing and transforming data with DataWeave - selectors, map, filter, and the Transform Message component.
• Structuring Mule applications - flows, subflows, variables, properties, and Maven-based deployment to CloudHub.
• Handling errors - error scopes, On Error Continue versus On Error Propagate, and custom error types.
